Summer is not cancelled! COVID-19 has changed a lot of things, but it hasn’t changed our connection to the outdoors. This summer Wilderness Inquiry is offering private family and small group travel to some of our favorite locations close to home.
We’re limiting the size and range of our trips to be mindful of current CDC recommendations, and we’re excited to be able to share the outdoors with you once again.
Our adventure packed trips are perfect for all ages, backgrounds and abilities – little ones welcome as well! (And if you’re looking for a kiddo carrier for the trail our very own Nell Holden (Operations Director) talks about her favorite baby carrier here.)
Summer Travel for Small Groups and Families
St. Croix River
As you camp along this wild and scenic river, keep an eye out for soaring eagles, great blue herons, and white-tailed deer. Hike the river banks as you work your way downriver and enjoy starry nights at the campfire.
Voyageurs National Park
Explore waterfalls, hidden coves, and scenic waterways. Listen for the cry of the loon and the howl of the timber wolf as you glide through the crystal clear waters of the north country.
Superior Hiking Trail
Explore lush forests and rocky cliffs, serene inland lakes, and thundering waterfalls that empty into Lake Superior. Take in panoramic views from Oberg Mountain as you hike to the best overlooks in northern Minnesota.
Apostle Islands
Known for its red sandstone sea caves, picturesque lighthouses, and historic shipwrecks, sea kayaking in the Apostle Islands is great for both novice and experienced paddlers. Hike, camp, and enjoy the world’s largest freshwater lake.
Boundary Waters Canoe Area
Experience stillness, silence, and solitude as you travel among the pines, birch, and cedar. Listen to loons call as the sun rises to burn mist off of a mirror-still lake. Relax around an evening campfire, catch shooting stars, and watch for northern lights.
