Project Hero

Powered by the Captain Planet Foundation

The Minnesota Freshwater Quest, developed by Wilderness Inquiry and Captain Planet Foundation, takes students on a learning journey to explore species that depend on healthy watersheds in Minnesota, to understand pressures on the waterways, and to design and implement a project that makes a difference.

Learn

Youth dive into the history, ecosystems, and species of Minnesota’s waterways to learn how they can help.

Empower

Young learners choose a species under pressure in their community and are empowered to create a better environment.

Act

Classroom learning is brought to life through your Quest’s youth-led, culminating stewardship project.

The Minnesota Freshwater Quest is designed as a resource for parents, teachers and students. Individual families or whole classrooms can explore diverse habitats near their home or school, participate in hands-on environmental education on local waterways while paddling in 24’ Voyageur canoes with Canoemobile, collect and share water quality data, and complete a youth-led project to improve their local ecosystem. Get started today!
