Morning and evening yoga sessions frame the days of paddling through sea caves, hiking trails to waterfalls, and enjoying Lake Superior’s sandy beaches. Guided by certified yoga instructor, you’ll move through a combination of yoga series and postures created to rejuvenate body, mind, and soul. No yoga experience is necessary.

Day 1: Arrive at Wilderness Inquiry's Little Sand Bay Base Camp and enjoy sunset yoga on the beach.
Your trip starts in early afternoon at Wilderness Inquiry's Little Sand Bay Base Camp. Get settled into your campsite, participate in a sea kayak orientation, and begin to explore this area's beautiful hemlock and cedar trees. Return to camp and enjoy a hearty meal cooked campside. After dinner, head down to the lake for sunset yoga on the beach.
Day 2: Begin your day with yoga, followed by a paddle to the Mawikwe Bay Sea Caves.
Start the day with a yoga session followed by breakfast and great coffee. Depending on the direction of the wind, explore the spectacular Mawikwe Bay Sea Caves or head to Red Cliff to explore Buffalo Bay and paddle among shipwrecks from long ago. Stretch your legs on a hike to a waterfall after a picnic lunch. Enjoy an evening yoga session before dinner together.
Day 3: Paddle to Sand Island and share stories around the campfire at night.
After breakfast and yoga, paddle out to Sand Island. Visit sea caves and the historic lighthouse on the northeast shore of Sand Island. Weather permitting, paddle in and out of the caves' sculpted rock chambers. After a picnic lunch on a sandy beach, we’ll hike up to the historic lighthouse. Enjoy one last night at base camp with yoga followed by great food and good company sharing stories over a toasty fire.
Day 4: Enjoy one last adventure before saying farewell to your trip mates.
Enjoy one last morning yoga session with your new friends. Head out on a paddle or hike and depart for home after a picnic lunch.

What to Expect
ACCOMMODATIONS: You will stay at our Little Sand Bay Base Camp. At night you will sleep in a comfortable platform tent in a secluded area. Typically, there are 3 people per 4-person tent. Our Little Sand Bay Base Camp has very nice bathrooms and shower facilities with hot water.
MEALS: We’ll enjoy preparing our meals together in our rustic base camp kitchens using fresh, healthy ingredients for bountiful dishes. Rise to the smell of freshly brewed coffee to enjoy with your breakfast of eggs, oatmeal, or granola. We’ll pack picnic lunches with hearty snacks before heading off to explore. In the evening, we’ll prepare our dinner together over stoves and campfires and then finish with s’mores or a glass of wine. If you have special dietary restrictions, be sure to list them on your registration.
ACTIVITIES ON YOUR TRIP: No previous kayak or yoga experience is needed to complete this trip. Multiple yoga sessions will be offered each day. An average day’s travel consists of 3-5 paddling hours, depending on weather conditions. When you are not doing Yoga, you will hike or paddle in large Current Design or Eddyline sea kayaks.
YOUR GROUP: The group size ranges from 6 to 12 participants, plus 2 or more Wilderness Inquiry guides. Each group consists of people of various ages, backgrounds, and abilities, including people with disabilities. Our Apostle Islands trips are cooperative adventures and people pitch in with camp chores as they are able.
EQUIPMENT AND CLOTHING: If you are new to outdoor activities, you need not spend a lot of money on gear. Wilderness Inquiry will provide all necessary kayaking and camping equipment. All you need to provide is your personal gear, such as clothing and a sleeping bag. A detailed equipment list will be sent to you upon confirmation of your participation. If you need to borrow personal gear, that can be arranged at no additional fee.
COVID POLICY: We continue to monitor and update our COVID-19 policies. Wilderness Inquiry strongly encourages everyone to be fully up to date with their COVID-19 vaccination and take other necessary steps for the health and wellness of all. We ask you to self-screen for any signs of illness prior to your trip’s departure. Please contact Wilderness Inquiry if you are exhibiting signs of illness. We will also continue to follow all guidance and requirements of locations that we travel, keeping in mind some international destinations do require vaccinations and/or negative covid tests. We will update this policy as new information and guidance becomes available.
SAFETY WHILE ON TRAIL: Though not required, some individuals may choose to wear a mask, and we expect all participants to respect this choice. Please ensure proper hygiene including, but not limited to, hand-washing and/or sanitizing before eating and after using the restroom. Individuals who become ill or test positive for COVID-19 during a Wilderness Inquiry experience will be isolated to the best of the group’s ability and are responsible for their own transportation and expenses to depart the trip.
