Changes to Charitable Giving: A Quick Guide

January 20, 2026 Leave a Comment

At Wilderness Inquiry, we believe Everyone Belongs in the Outdoors. Whether it’s a student floating along the Mississippi River in a North canoe for the first time or an adult who experiences disability navigating a forest trail, these life-changing experiences are only possible because of generous donors like you.

We want to ensure that our community of supporters is informed about the evolving landscape of charitable giving. You may already be aware that there have been changes made to tax law that could affect how donors file their taxes and approach future donations. Some of these changes include:

  • An increase in the standard deduction and an above-the-line deduction for non-itemizers
  • A floor for charitable deductions and a limit to the value of deductions for itemizers, depending on tax bracket

Please consult with your financial advisor to understand how these changes will affect you personally, and click here for more in-depth information. Staying informed about these changes ensures that your incredible generosity powers our mission while also sustaining your personal financial health.

Your generosity provides the gear, the guides, and the specialized equipment that break down barriers to the natural world. Because of your support, thousands of individuals each year gain confidence, build community, and discover the healing power of nature. We are profoundly grateful for your commitment to making the outdoors inclusive and accessible for everyone.
