Kate Hartfiel
Board Member
Kate's more than 25-year history with Wilderness Inquiry has allowed her to experience Wilderness Inquiry from a variety of angles. As a trip participant, she watched the magic of Wilderness Inquiry unfold in real time. She has experiences ranging from Dave’s famous, non-vegetarian, horsepack trips to Beth Dooley’s Taste of the Apostle Islands kayaking and gourmet fare trips.
As a board member in the mid-2000’s, Kate saw the Urban Wilderness Canoe Area (UWCA) program, now known nationwide as Canoemobile, gain approval and begin its outreach from the Twin Cities to school districts across the state. She also worked to secure Wilderness Inquiry's Apostle Islands Little Sand Bay property in Wisconsin.
Kate is married to Rick Hartfiel and is a mom to Ned, Annie, and John.
