Wilderness Inquiry, the National Park Service, and Mississippi Park Connection partner to expose thousands of kids to the Mississippi River each year.
Our Outdoor Activities Days are land-based programs that bring large groups of students to sites along the river. Most Outdoor Activities Days take place at Snelling Lake inside Fort Snelling State Park. Students rotate between four learning stations, two before lunch, and two after lunch. All trips will include canoeing as one station. Other rotation stations may include water quality testing, macroinvertebrate netting, nature hike, food history, lacrosse, or team building.
Continue your professional development as an outdoor leader and join us for this year's Interpretive Training. We are excited to roll out new educational material this season, so returning outdoor leaders are encouraged to sign up for this training, too!
Looking to Volunteer? Sign up for Interpretive Training!
During an Outdoor Activities Day, volunteers are encouraged to help with station set-up and take down, aid students during the rotation activity, answer student questions, and aid in trafficking between stations! Canoeing not guaranteed for volunteers.
