We’re going to Belize and Tikal from February 3 to 10 and from February 11 to 18—and there are just a few spots left on those trips!
Did you know that Belize is the Caribbean’s best-kept secret and one of the best places to explore in February? Here are some of the reasons you’ll want to travel with us to Central America this winter.
Mayan Culture is Incredible
Originating in the Yucatán around 2600 B.C., the Mayan people rose to prominence around A.D. 250 in present-day southern Mexico, Guatemala, northern Belize, and western Honduras. The ruins of Mayan temples and mega cities are some of the best in the Americas.
In Belize, locally sourced fruits and vegetables are infused with Mayan, Mexican and Creole influence and paired with the freshest seafood. Pro tip: try everything!
The Water is Better
Located along the southern Yucatan peninsula in the Caribbean Sea, Belize is home to some of the bluest waters in the western hemisphere. This area is also home to the world’s second largest coral reef.
There Are So Many Islands to Explore
Belize has more than 200 cayes, or small islands, dotted throughout the Caribbean Sea. On our trip, you’ll have time to explore some of them. For example, on the seventh day you’ll snorkel in the beautiful South Water Caye Marine Reserve and then lunch on a small mangrove island.
With the largest cave system in Central America, Belize has so much to discover. Many of the underground sites were traditionally sacred to the Maya and contain relics from a lost civilization.
